Lupo (Alan) is born in Winthrop.

The son of Max and Esther (Sacon) Lupo, Alan Lupo graduates from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and the Columbia School of Journalism, works as a reporter In New York and Baltimore, and then for the Boston Globe in 1965. Lupo goes on to work for other Boston media outlets, including WGBH-TV, and becomes a champion of Boston’s neighborhoods. He dies on September 29, 2008. Former Boston Globe editorial page editor Martin Nolan subsequently calls Lupo “A street reporter’s street reporter who really understood the neighborhoods.”
